I Love This Game But I hate 9S :: NieR:Automata™ Dyskusje ogólne ... Title9s sucks. I hated that I couldn't lose him, and did not enjoy the time I was him. He's such a generic anime boy. That's my opinion though ...Hacking saves so much time. Nearly all of 9S's encounters were much quicker than having to fight everything as 2B, so I actually came to like it. I find myself missing the option to hack now I'm back to normal combat with A2. Also, equipping a few ranged chips and the spear makes most fights as 9S really easy even without hacking.

There is no way around it since there are sections of the game where all you can do is hack like 9S' version for the part where you encounter the cult inside of the abandoned factory.
