When completing my Tyrian mastery tracks it was getting a little tight, I recommend going for Triple Trouble around reset time, it is usually organized. I believe you can get 4 mastery points if you kill all 3 and personally kill each of the 3 heads, and then 1 more MP for the meta achievements. Teq mastery is also easier than it sounds. This is so the point. There are easily enough mastery points to max all the regular mounts without the 1 or 2 that are supposed to need the hidden one. Mastery points aren't needed for map completion so the only need for them is to max the hidden mount itself. No problem!
